Quotes from a newly 8 year old:"I grew!"-when he came out of his bedroom on the morning of his birthday.
When asked why he got up at 6:30 in the morning..."When you are a big boy, you get up earlier".
After opening presents and eating breakfast in bed..."Mommy, you are the best mom I could ever have."
On his own initiative.."Remember when you said when I turned 8, I could watch ____?" (A movie we told him he had to wait til he was his brother's age...that was obviously 2 years ago.) Kids are like elephants!
Opening a present that was large in size..."How could ____ afford this. This is huge"...(our kid must know too much about the economy these days.)
When opening a card from grandpa...(at the top of his lungs while jumping up and down) "20 BUCKS?"...and then he sweetly took the time to read the card.
On our drive home after pizza with the grandparents..."I love my family".
And the day after his birthday...."RABBITS"...remember this family tradition? I guess you get smarter and quicker when you turn 8 as well.
I love this little man!

Rabbits is so funny! I have never heard of such a thing. It is so neat to hear what their minds will come up with. I can see why he is so easy to love :) You lucky Mom!
I love all his "old" comments! I'm glad you have them written down - they are keepers!
What a great idea! I need to quote my children more often. They say the darndest stuff and I'm Missing it by not writing it down. Thanks for the nudge.
Blessings, Whitney
It's these words that fuel my every day as a mom...
I just love that you have saved his special words to all of you...priceless!
Too cute! I also blogged about my Reid's adorable words this AM. Moments like those, make all the "rougher times" so worth it! Glad he had a great birthday!
Oh, he's a quick one, isn't he? So glad he had such a great birthday, and that he isn't afraid to say "I love my family." So sweet!
Yeah, I'm definitely not cuter than YOUR 8 year old. Happy Birthday!
Not only is he such a cutie - he's so sweet, too!!
Happy Birthday, A!
He doesn't realize you'll remember those quotes all his life!! And why can they remember things we can't?
Emily's comment made me smile. What a great little, I mean, big guy you have there! Great song Linda! I listened to it cranked while I did my make up.
Adorable!
Eight is such a great age! :)
I am not as cute as an 8 year old.
I'm just really glad you didn't ask about maturity. ;-p
He is very cute, indeed!
How precious - and Happy Birthday!!
I have an 8 year old too who just had a birthday in September. What a sweet age.
He says things that totally crack me up. I've had a sinus infection and I take naps on the weekend to get the extra rest I need. Saturday morning when I gave him a kiss and told him I was on my way to teach class he said "Do you really think it is good to work when you don't feel good"? Such genuine concern. Precious.
Such a little cutie with a tender heart. Precious...
What a little cutie! Very sweet post.
My kids ask me all the time when I get older can I watch that....
precious. you'll be so glad you recorded all of this!
