I need to back up a bit and tell you about a shocking moment in our home last week. D was in the kitchen chatting away and what happened next caused one of those looks between parents. Did his voice just crack? My ELEVEN year old baby boy? No matter how hard I tried to live in denial, the days after it made the obvious a reality I was forced to accept.
He seemed proud as a peacock. Especially when his friend sitting next to him at church said "Dude, what's wrong with your voice?"
So since that moment in time I have noticed some incredible changes in my D-Man. Probably ones that have been evolving but I've not let myself admit.

He's sleeping in more. He's not as interested in the toys and games as his little brother. He's always been an early bloomer and a deep thinker. But our conversation blew me away at how much he understands about the choices he makes in friends. The pressures that he's felt and the ones that are coming. He is so incredibly grounded and firm in his beliefs. I've worried about where he is at with God and our conversation made me realize just how naive I am in realizing just because he doesn't always share things doesn't mean it isn't there!
For Christmas he has 3 things on his wish list. And one of those items is money that we would spend for a present so that he can put it towards a boy he chose for the Angel Tree. Seriously? Can this child be for real? I surely don't give him enough credit. He thought of this all on his own!
My sweet D-Man has already given me the best Christmas gift ever, he asked me a question I had been hoping to hear for a long time....
(cuz it's a long post I'll finish tomorrow!)

This is a wonderful post. It gives me hope; I was walking through aparking lot the other day, holding Nick's hand, cuz he still wants to hold mine :) & I thought to myself, REMEMBER THIS. Remember this feeling of his little hand pressed into yours, because one day soon it won't be that little and he won't want YOU to be holding it. Oh sweet Mama Friend there are moments when I curse time from snatching away my sweet babies and replacing them with grown things that I struggle wits with.
I can't wait to hear the rest of this story!
A wonderful post, indeed. It's so hard to see {and hear} our little babies grow up right before our very eyes. It happens all too quickly. You guys are obviously doing a wonderful job.
I told my girls about your sweet boy's list, and my Nator {the one who is always thinking of ways to give to others} says, "I'm so selfish." It made me giggle because she is the last person I would say is selfish. :)
Looking forward to hearing more!
