Say what?
Fear?
What in the world do I have to be afraid of?
It is unbelievable what our mind can do. That verse on *taking every thought captive* is right where it is at. I firmly believe that. When those thoughts of doubt, worry, insecurity and fear come up...I need to squash them like a bug. I've also thought a lot lately about the fears we hope in the core of our being will never happen to us. The fear of being harmed by someone else. It's a real world and unfortunately "bad things DO happen to good people"!
I have wanted to take a self-defense class for quite some time now. I remember taking one in college, but back then I thought I was invinsible and honestly didn't pay much attention. Last Saturday I decided to check off another goal on my 40 by 40 list and took part in a class that not only changed my perspective but hopefully my life. I learned ways to defend myself, techniques to fight back and was put in scenarios that seriously scared me. There's always "what ifs" and now hopefully I can fight back with "how to"! No one wants to think about bad things happening to us. It's hard to admit how awful this world can be sometimes. I'm not a pro and I still have a lot to learn but oh the joy when I tried my new moves out on my Hubster and found great confidence in realizing that yes I can flip a 6ft 200lb man over my shoulder!

If you are a woman...do you know how to defend yourself if you had to? Although we are not to be bound by fear, we do need to know how to battle. In our minds and with our physical strength. Yes, God forbid any of us are put in a situation where our life (or children's lives) are put in danger. We'd be willing to fight with all we've got if it were to protect our kids. How about ourselves?
So, just a challenge to whoever is reading....do you know how to defend yourself?
Think about it!
And take a self-defense class...it just might save your life someday!

You go girl! I have never really even thought about it, but in these days and times, I can see the need for a class like that.
Glad to see you check in. I was going to FB next to leave you a message that I was thinking about you. You are still in my prayers! :)
wow, you go girl! flipping your husband over your shoulder?! I am impressed.
I may just have to look into one of those classes.
WOW! Good for you!
wow! i would love to take one of those classes. i am certain i couldnt do it where i live...but maybe with an hour and a half drive i could. thanks for the reminder.
We had a self-defense section on our gym class back when I was in Jr. high. I made the local paper for my "skills". My teacher was impressed with my fearlessness to yell! Oh, yes I can yell! I am sure of one thing: Eyes/face/groin
in that order without hesitation.
Wow! Way to go! Same story here...I took a class a long time ago. High school? Anyway, I don't remember a lot from it and this would be a good refresher. You just keep ticking off those goals!
Well, I know I can take some pretty hard hits, considering my weekend on the soccer field. Other than growing up with 2 older brothers and a fiesty younger sister, I don't have any professional fighting skills, other than what I watched on a Oprah show once many moons ago. While reading your previous post, I scrolled down and noticed that you had checked off the self defense class and thought "oh, I didn't know that she had done that!" See how I am keeping tabs on you- can't remember to buy yeast at the store, but I remember if my friends have taken self defense!
