Because of my doggone allergies, I've had to watch what almost resembles Spring unfolding from the other side of my window lately. I can hear what sounds like dozens of birds singing their delightful songs. The sun peeks out every once in awhile and even though the temperature is cold I really want to go sit and soak it up firsthand. I can sense there is change in the air. I've also noticed this:

What I see right off is how this u-huh-hugly brown grass that seems dead is coming back to life again! That's what happens here in the winter...it all turns brown. But Green...oh what a color of hope and promise, don't you think? What is most interesting is that if you look close at the picture, not all the grass is turning green right away. Mostly just the grass around our trees.
How cool is that? An analogy right in my own back yard! As I look back at a year ago, even 9 months ago I have to admit I was lookin' a lot like that brown grass. All pitiful, boring and not much promise of a life. It is so hard to grow out there all on our own. And for me, where does my hope, joy, life...water come from? The Lord. Planting myself right at His feet is so important!
My heart is so full from the promises God has made me. Promises like;
"I have told you this so that my joy may be in you
and your joy may be complete." John 15:11
"...but I will see you again and you will rejoice,
and no one will take away your joy." John 16:22
" Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened,
and I will give you rest." Matt. 11:28
"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for
and certain of what we do not see" Heb.11:1
"No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived
what God has prepared for those who love him." 1 Cor. 2:9
" Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me,
and I will listen to you." Jeremiah 29:12
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation;
the old has gone, the new has come!" 2 Cor 5:17
So outside my window and inside my heart....Spring looks like it has sprung!

What a great analogy - and post! At this point, since it isn't looking likely we'll see any more of the white stuff this season - I'm ready for flowers to bloom and the skies to be sunny.........
Great analogy! And I'm ready fro spring too, but I'm afraid I have to make it through some more snow first!
glad to see some life in your neck of the woods...i woke up to snow! ... that is a great analogy about planting ourselves at his feet.
Oooh -- I wish spring would sprung here, lol!! I have a four hour drive with eight students ahead of me today, and I'm worried about bad weather! =(
It is still winter here but we can dream, can't we? The verse saying in Christ we are a new creature - wow! what a promise. Thanks for your kind comments on my blog.
great post girl!
man, i wish spring would hurry up and show its self around here. all i see is snow
So true! Reminds me of one of my favorite passages, Psalm 1.
Here is a little of it:
1 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.
3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water,which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.
Kind of like your grass by the tree, if we stand close to our source of strength, nourishment, etc. we will prosper, even in the hard times!
Blessings!
Ahhh, the promises you quoted were like a balm to my heart! Thank you.
Love this post! Thanks for the reminder.
