E.L.E.V.E.N.

That's how old my baby turns on the 9th.

I say it doesn't bother me as much this year that he is growing up.

But I lied.

It's still painful!

About as much as labor and delivery. And this little 9.4lb man took 32 hours to bless us with his presence!!

This weekend we celebrated his birfday with 3 of his favorite buddies. My son has the sweetest friends. We are so thrilled by the choices he has made in who he hangs out with and spends his time with. I have to be honest though, there's always that kid at the party who wears ya down a bit.

Now he's not some kid with a bad attitude. But he complained...a lot...and it gets on your nerves after awhile. And he also did the unthinkable. Despite the fact my kitchen table was covered in junk food, he helped himself to my *not so hidden like I thought* Reese's stash w/o asking and left wrappers all over my living room.

Poor kid doesn't know that you just don't mess with Ms. Linda's Reese's!

Really, the kid was great. I just had to complain about something stupid for a minute. And if that's all I have to complain about, well yeah...be grateful for his choice in friends, right!!

I'm not sure if it's true for others but it seems like the older my boys get, the less extravagant their parties become. D-Man was so content to just have a few friends over for a sleepover. No frills on Friday night. Just hours and hours of little male testosterone dripping all over my house. Preteen boys are smelly, let me tell ya. They had an absolute blast running wild!

This morning we thought we were going to have to drag them out of bed, but a couple were up before us! We had plans to head to the "Movie Tavern". The most wonderful, fun and awesome theater evah! We went to "Flapjacks & a Flick". Basically it's a theater but you have tables or counters in front of you and you eat while you watch a movie. The boys got stuffed on all-you-can-eat pancakes and watched Tooth Fairy. (Which is a great, CLEAN movie by the way!) I had the most fun watching the waiters trying to keep up with bringing in the orders...basically IN the DARK!

So, I guess you know you've had a great birthday party by the energy level once it's over. It's 7:30 and the birthday boy is already in bed.

Although I keep hearing the older they get the more they sleep (and eat). Perhaps it's already begun. I just might go crawl in next to him and pretend he's that little 5 year old who had the Rescue Heroes theme at his party today instead of the thought of deodorant being a part of his daily routine now.

Yep, another day in my wonderful life ending with the happy sigh!

Happy Birthday to your son! Those birthday parties with friends can really wear you down, and even though the kid may be great, there is always one that drives you crazy!
PS - My Heather was 9.6lb and took about the same amount of time to enter the world!

you should be thankful the boy at your Reeses. He saved you the calories and temptation. I have made a decision to stay out of the candy aisle and the cookie aisle at the grocery store. We will see how long that lasts.

Ok wait wait wait WAIT a MINUTE...did you say it's a Movie theater that serves PANCAKES? While you watch the movie?
Have we been raptured? Because That I mean that is like something I could only think would be in heaven, that and well bathtubs filled with chocolate and dishes that were edible so there would be no more "doing dishes" we'd just say "Eat your plate."
Oh MAN, I want to come to Texas.

Sounds like so much fun. Enjoy the time with your boys because as they grow up they get more outside interests and soon they are flying out of the house.

Awwww! Sounds fun! And I totally want a theater like that around here! How fun!

Isn't it amazing how fast they grow up? Oh if only we could just keep them young....
