My dad

"This then is how we know that we belong to the truth, and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence whenever our hearts condemn us. For God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything." 1 John 3:19-20 (NIV)

Today's devotional in my inbox was no coincidence! Sheesh. Go read it if you get a minute.

I got a call from my step mom this morning and my dad's not doing very good. Because of his surgery last year (removal of his spleen & 80% of his pancreas due to cancer) he has had terrible problems with his stomach. So the poor guy is not only battling cancer but can't keep food down now either. He has lost way too much weight, he's on pain meds and she said he's sleeping 24 hours a day now. Last week he was working and things have changed drastically in a short amount of time. She has asked me to consider making a trip back home.

So many thoughts are racing around and I want peace from the Lord on what to do. They are going in to see his oncologist hopefully today and will have a cat scan done to see what is up with the cancer. They are hoping to get some help on what to do with his stomach, pain, weight loss, etc. He doesn't have much energy so please pray for him today. Pray for my step mom as she seems like she's worn out and is making big decisions that stresses her out too.

Hope.

I've still got hope, because without it...what'cha going to do!

Please pray for my family!

**Update:

Welp they admitted my dad in the hospital today and have started him on a low dose of chemo. The term "for quality of life" was used and I'm still not sure what that means. If he responds well to the the chemo, they will do outpatient treatment for 7 weeks. A lot of this depends on how he reacts the next few days. He is really sick right now so please pray the chemo doesn't make things worse. I'm hoping the IV today will boost him up.

It's hard being 2000 miles away and relying on phone calls. I wish I could be there, not only to love on my dad, but to hear just what the doctors are saying. I gotta trust my step mom on that one! She has told me to wait a week and see how he is doing before I book a flight. So that prayer has been answered for now on what I'm suppose to do at the moment.

Thanks for praying sistas!

Such a hard situation in any form, but being that far away certainly makes it more difficult. I'm praying.

Do you feel God's arms around you? I just asked him to put His arm around you and your Dad and step-mom too. So difficult when so many miles seperate you from them. BUT God is always near. Keep looking up! (I know it is easier said, then done.)
