A taste of the past

Do you ever have those moments when you see something and it brings a flood of memories back? While standing in line waiting for the cashier to scan my groceries yesterday it happened to me! Of all the crud they put in those aisles hoping for suckers like me to buy...well for once I caved in. I remember chewing this gum as a kid and was shocked to find it next to the Juicy Fruit & Big Red! It doesn't quite taste like I remember and the flavor lasts about 2 minutes.

But the feeling of being a kid and not 38 was all worth it!

OH MY GOSH! I haven't seen that stuff in years...I LOVED it!

And you are so right about it lasting 2 minutes...maybe only 1 minute 47 seconds.

FRUIT STRIPE gum!!!! Oh I loved that stuff! I found it in a "specialty" shop last summer and they wanted $2 for the pack! ANd of course I bought it! You are right lasts two seconds, but oh how those two seconds of not feeling 30 something feel. We need to bottle that feeling and sell it. ;)

Someone gave that to one of my kids recently! I was so excited because it was my favorite as a kid! You are right, the taste was different and short lasting, but oh the memories! I even commented on how quickly it lost its flavor and my son told me that he read that if you chew the paper around it, the flavor lasts longer...huh? Chew the paper? That is his claim...I haven't tried it, but it IS an interesting theory!

My mom handed out sticks of gum (not the whole pack) to her SS kids if they were "good". That meant she always had Fruit Stripe gum. I thought it was so pretty!

It doesn't take quite like you remember because it says "sugarfree"...pretty sure the kind we had growing up wasn't sugar free! ;-) Love it!

Oooh, I almost bought some of this the other day, had it in my hand to purchase and then I read it had aspartame in it. My day was totally ruined. :o(
