But what if you knew...
That I sometimes don't get out of my PJs and into the shower til noon. And my kids are both at school. So the "Stay at Home" mommy gig is about to be exposed.
That I can't seem to get a job.
That I really don't want a job anyways.
That I'm really making myself sound like a loser here.
But that I've become like my schlumpy mom WAY too much these days
and my washing machine too often holds more of my sweats than jeans.
That I have nice clothes in my closet and make up in my basket
but feel unmotivated to use them.
That I've been rocking out to Pink's "So What" today. (thanks sis!)
That I have irritable moods where I wanna bite someone's head off
and it usually ends up being my dogs.
That I re-start my plan to eat better every morning
and feel bad about it every night.
That I say the word b.u.t.t. too much with my children around.
That I have more online friends I talk to than real life ones.
Loner to the T (or L).
That I sound like I need an intervention.
That God has me in a spot I don't like (not a new one).
That I'm a pastor's wife that desperately tries to rely on God
yet fails in my quiet time.
That I listened to a sermon online this morning
and just could not get into it.
That as much as I try to understand Grace,
there's days I still feel overwhelmed with guilt.
That I know it's okay to be transparent but still feel tempted
to say the right thing all the time.
That I DON'T say the right thing all the time.
*Insert foot motto*..yea that's me!
That I wish I could blog about something funny EVERY day.
That I feel like a failure as a mother most days.
That I hate to cook and clean.
And so that's why my kitchen sink seems to always looks like this:
That I still can't get my eyebrows right and talk about them WAY too much.
That I try reeeeeally hard not to blog on days I'm PMS.
That this is NOT a pity party I'm having!
But that I worry about what people think way too much
and struggle with it on here.
Well there ya have it. I'm sure I'll regret revealing a few of these tomorrow, but today I feel free!

i would say that i love you even more! and would totally wanna come hang out till lunch with you in your pj's!
It's 3:51, I'm still in my pj's, have not showered and I am totally pmsing today, i've been on the computer for about two hours, i'm making myself feel better about it by saying the laptop is like a heating pad on my crampin' tummy! and have been yelling at the kids all.day.long. so loud my throat hurts.
i wanna go crawl back in bed and pull the covers over my head!!
oh, friend! i love your honesty! we are all lucky to have gotten to know you! we all have our quirks and life moves on...quirks and all! when people put on a fake face of everything looking peachy keen, it's not appreciated. but with you, everything is appreciated and respected because of your honesty and fun personality!
btw...i think all of your posts have a bit of humor, i love it!
so....don't hold back! please!!!!!
I can identify with ummm . . . almost everything you wrote today! Were you spying on my journal?
Thanks for letting it all out and I still *heart YOU! Wish I could give you a big hug.
I tried to send this with my phone earlier, but it just didn't work....THAT I love you more today than yesterday, but not as much as I will tomorrow. THAT this has to be my favorite post EVAH! THAT you are far too nice when speaking of our father's wife, I mean, let's get real baby. THAT you alread have the best job in the world and are amazing at it, just look at the three of them! THAT it is OK to stay in your jammies, but if you don't go get dressed I will be up there to drag your b.u.t.t. to town for a shopping spree, and THAT it won't be Value Village!
I would say that I am like you in many ways and have a few others of my own! And - I love you for your honesty!
The only thing worse than a preacher reading your thoughts from a pulpit is a friend reading them from 8 states away. Get out of my head, will ya?
Only 6 more days and January will be gone. Will that help?
((((Hugs all around))))
DUDE!!!!!!!
Ok, you say b.u.t.t. My word is dude. I say dude ALL the time.
I could copy your post and put it up on my blog because I fit everyone of those THAT's. (except being a pastor's wife) My kitchen sink totally looks like yours only your dishes are clean, mine sit their dirty till Hubby comes home...now who's the bad one?!
I love my sweats!!! I hate jeans...they are tight and bunchy and I'm NOT repeat NOT buying a size 16. I will die before this 5'0 3/4 body wears a size 16!
I struggle with eating healthy...why can't they make healthy food that tastes GOOD, that you'd crave instead of BBQ potatoe chips and chocolate cake and homemade chex mix, you get the point.
Yes, I talk to blogsters more then real friends, I can't help it if someone is always busy...I'm busy too avoiding the house work!!!! ha ha ha.
Unfortunatly my kiddos get the brunt of my frustration, half school days. :( I feel really bad about that.) But I am SO over peeing in pants and the yelling through the house and the running inside. ARGH, if we had money I'd take them to Adventure park everyday. (Indoor playland thingy. Costs $5 a kid)
I don't like my step-mom either...hey was your dad in the paper talking about what he cherishes most in this life? (Hint: wasn't us kids. THAT's for sure!)
Ok, whose having the pity party now? Me me me me. sorry.
I look forward to your posts everyday. And I miss when you don't post. Love when you leave comments too. Hey would you please follow me? You havn't joined iSass yet. I am off to see if I can find a new bible study group. I SOOOO need to find one. A GOOD one, with GOOD people, not the whiny, time suckers that talkity-talk and we never get to the lesson kind of people.
Totally hear you my friend!! I'm so glad you did that because now I can relax -- you are a real person!!! (And one I can totally relate to.) :-)
Sending you love and hugs.
I loved this post. You are awesome. I could hang out with you anyday!
Oh girl. You are so right on with my thoughts. I don't even have any online friends, let alone real people friends. :)
No wonder I connect with you so well. I could have very well written almost every single one of those! I love you no matter what and totally accept you, and yet I struggle with all those feelings myself! Hang in there, and never regret being real!
Oh Linda, I love you for being so real and therefore LOVE this post! The dishes. They were just drying in the sink after being washed...right?! :)
Girl, I've got a "but what if they knew" things hanging over my thoughts too. I really do worry what you guys would think if you knew. Maybe one day I'll get brave like you and fess up.
Love you just the way you are!! A bit envious of the stay in pj's till noon..;) I know it's not always a fun place to be. After I graduated I was with no job for 6 months and it got hard not to get dressed or want to get dressed each day. Hang in there kiddo!
I love your honesty. As everyone has stated, you have said for us what we haven't been able to say ourselves! So I think I should say "Thank you" to you.
What you said also reminds me to be more honest myself...in my real life and on my blog. I think I find myself hiding behind a fake smile many times. Sometimes being honest is hard and finding people to be honest around, can be even harder!
So thanks for sharing...and enjoy the rest of today!
I love honesty. We're all in the same boat. Most of us pretend that we're on a yacht. But we're not. You should see the dishes in my sink right now. Thank you for your honesty. It's refreshing and it makes me feel more normal :)
I'm right there with all of the rest of the commenters! In fact, I was planning on inviting you to go with me to Bible Study tomorrow, but I so desperately need an "alone, catch up day" I choosing to bag Bible Study. There's some honesty for you! So, plan on me asking you to come along next week, when, hmmm, let's see, it will finally be FEBRUARY!
Thank you again for your marvelous transparency!
i could use this same post on many days, except i'm not a pastors wife and i don't have a stepmom. you know, i'm so hard on myself and wonder why i just don't care about alot these days...it makes me feel better to know there are so many of us struggling with the same things...thanks for this. it really does take courage to be real and not care whos reading our 'real' stuff.
I'm sitting in my pj's reading this, but luckily it is only 9:45. I wasn't going to change but having a househelp that comes makes me want to not look like I am a total slacker who leaves her all the work.
I have those same red towels in my kitchen.
I sure hope your mother in-law doesn't read this.
I think blogging is a great idea for pastor's wives.
Turn the music up and sing while you do the dishes.
Invite someone over to do aerobics with, try Jane Fonda.
I love you Linda!
I love your honesty, friend! Kudos to you for putting it out there!
I've found that I've become more and more honest on my blog. There are most certainly things that I hold back, but I'm beginning to share certain more as well.
We all have "that"s....and we can all relate! Why not share 'em!
Oh Linda! You made me laugh out loud tonite! Sometime when I see you in real life I will tell you *exactly* why...
Have a great rest of your week!
Tachan
I think you have a lot of the same things going on that many of us do. Look how many are relating already and this post isn't even older than a day!
Love you Girlfriend, thanks for always keeping things so real and writing about things we can all identify with.
Wish I lived close enough to visit for coffee, I promise I'd bring doughnuts! Hang in there Linda, spring is on it's way!
I think that would make you completely NORMAL!!!!
Did you see my 365 post for Sunday night on my picture blog?....looks worse than yours!!
but hey, if you ever want to talk to another pastor's wife, email me sarawbowyerATmsnDOTcom.
What if you knew...
that I absolutely love Pink's "So what"...
that I am the one who harps her husband to save money but goes on spending sprees about once a week...
that I'm terrified that I don't know enough to teach college students...
that I am so self-centered that I'm even turning this comment about myself...
that I hate that I don't stand up for what I believe in more...
that I and hubby strongly dislike (I'll never say hate, so strongly dislike is the strongest I can get, lol) my husband's stepmom (and vice versa)...
that I should be grading papers of getting applications ready for grad school but instead I'm reading and commenting on blogs.
;)
Girl I am sitting here in my pj's and although I just got the dishwasher loaded we still have our christmas decorations up so I feel you!
I have a million things I want to be real about it's hard isn't it?
Love you!
Linda, you spoke to my heart today. I totally feel where you are.
Don't get discouraged - we all have days like this.
And you bless me every time I pull up your blog - even when it's a list of "that's".
Love ya, girl!
I would totally say that you and I are twins separated at birth. Right now I'm in jammy pants with rainboots on just because they are cute, no bra, no make up, hair in a mess all over my head and Richard is on his way home.
You are a rockstar in my book!
I can so relate, I'm right there with ya! Thanks so much for your honesty You're keeping it real...and I like that.
Girl. That is IT right there. I love you for writing this post. I can relate to so many of those statements and for every one I can't relate to...I have something of my own that I could replace it with!
Well...without reading other people's comments..
would you like to know THAT..
THAT other people's sinks look like that, too.
THAT I get up in the morning and often change from one set of jammies into another set. because If I wear good clothes, I'll ruin them by accident and then, well...they'll be non good clothes. :-)
THAT - you're pretty normal. :-)
There's something kinda freeing about putting it all out there, isn't there? I'm working on that myself...so hard for me. But really, I think it just draws us all closer together to know that we're all in pretty much the same boat.
Love you girl!
So THIS is why you changed your blog address. ;o)
Loved reading what is on your heart. You are real, and that is why so many of us love you and keep coming back to read more.
