All I want for Christmas is....a bra?

Does your husband have a hard time picking you out a Christmas gift? My man has gotten pretty creative!

See, my inlaws are notorious for their Christmas lists. You stick to the list and the times I've tried to detour have not been sucessful. I grew up in a "no list" family and Christmas morning was always extra exciting because we had no idea what we were getting or unwrapping. This has been a small issue in our marriage that we have learned to work thru together. So my man knows to have fun and think of something he wants to get for me and surprise me!

Well, at least try to surprise me.

When the holidays roll around I never know exactly what I want and I honestly don't really care if there is anything under the tree. But if I catch wind of someone getting me something, I make things miserable. I don't mean to, it just becomes this little game I play trying to discover the prize. Terrible, I know. I've told you before I am a spoiled little brat when it comes to holidays. So here it is Christmas and my husband has let the cat outta the bag that he "needs to go to the mall".

Of course my questions begin and once again I ruin things. The only store I can think of that he needs to go the mall for is Victoria Secret. His response "oh I'd feel awkward going in there".

Poor guy.

He can't lie.

So he spills the beans. I know some of it is because he is unsure on the route to getting me the gift he wants. He's gotten help from his sister and I'm quite impressed by the serious thought he has put into this present!

Here is the jist. He wants to get me a new bra for Christmas. Yep, my first thought was...yea right, a bra for "me" and you're seriously going to Victoria Secret's because they have the "best quality bras"? You were gonna get me something kinky weren'tcha fella?!

This man of mine is so good to me. Do you know what he said in response to my curiousity of why he chose Victoria Secret? I know you never buy yourself a good quality bra. I see you come home and rip the old ones off and so I want you to have one you are comfortable in. And how do I take it? Your girls are gonna sag more if you don't start supporting them better. I'm tired of coming home seeing you frumpy and braless.

See, I twist things once again. It's like the times he says "those jeans make you look skinny" and what do I hear....only the "make you"part of his sentence!

So while I am at making myself sound like a horrible wife who should really take better care of herself, here is the *best* part of my story...

He had the idea to get me this dream bra from VS but was nervous on which one, what size, how much, etc. My sister in law told him he should take one of my bras in and show them my size. And the bra he picked to take in? Well in efforts to make myself sound less like a bag lady, let's just say it wasn't a pretty bra he chose. Not that I even own a pretty bra, but this whole post is TMI already so I'll stop right there. I sat in horror wondering what it would have been like had he gotten away with this little secret and taken in that awful thing. The sales ladies would have felt so very sorry for him!

In his defense, he tells me that getting this bra is no different than getting me a coat or shoes or a toothbrush (yep, his exact words). Somehow I cannot see the toothbrush as the reason why we have 2 children. Hmm, minty fresh breath vs. a sexy bra. Naaa. But I believe him. Simply because he is that thoughtful and wonderful to me.

And the many lessons I have gained from once again spoiling things:

1. Stop trying to guess what my presents are.

2. Have a good talk with my sister-in-law and actually show her the bras in my drawer so she will know not to EVER give that advice again.

3. Start putting on make up more and wearing a bra around the house.

4. Take better care of myself. I'm not a -mom with babies in each arm and no time for a shower- anymore and it will make me feel better to make a little more effort.

5. Believe my husband when he's trying to compliment me or help me out in feeling comfie.

6. My marriage can be practical and spicy at the same time!

7. Take back the dress socks I bought for hubster and buy a pretty bra. He deserves some treats this time of year. Even if its covered in *blubber* wrap!

So, what did you get your hubby for Christmas?

Okay, I'm officially starting to hate either the blogger follower thing or google reader because my favorite blogs aren't updating, including yours!

Bra shopping can either be an "uplifting" experience or an awful mess! Let your hubster do the dirty work for you, if he wants...what a guy!!!!
We have a "bra lady" we got to locally that can fit anyone with a good bra...she's great...but I definetly have to be in the mood. I did ask my husband for a GC to her store, but he denied. I don't think he'd walk into the place. Go figure....

I love it! I totally twist what my hubby tries to tell me and get my feelings hurt all the time! I am VERY impressed that he is even willing to try the bra thing! My husband would NEVER and if he did, it would probably come from Target!

I read a book before getting married that said to take 30 minutes a day before your husband got home to "freshen yourself up" I did that for a long time until too many babies and too much school took away any desire, time or energy to do so. I definitely need to get back into the habit!

Have a great week!

What a sweetie pie C is - and the idea that he was going to take one of your bras to the store? That is so sweet and funny. He loves you so much!

The closest my hubby has ever come is to ask me why my panties don't match my bra! So I switched to all white everything and solved that little problem!

That all changed in 2008! I set out on a mission to treat myself to new, fun, matchiNg-not plain white-sets! Throught the year I have constantly checked the sales racks and have picked up some great stuff for myself! Just last week I got a fun set for $16 at Penny's - they have stripes and lace and make me smile!

Linda, I now tag you to make this your 2009 mission! You go hit those racks honey - even if you go once every month or two, by the end of next year, hubby will have to come up with a different gift idea! Even tho only you and Hubby know what you have on underneath, it makes you feel good! And You, my daring friend, totally DESERVE It!

Girl that is really funny! I don't always wear makeup all day but about 15 minutes before HD gets home I run and put some on, that might work for you. Merry Christmas!

Love this post ;-D

Bra shopping - ugh! I NO LONGER spend money on the "pretty VS" bras. I can't justify wearing an undergarment that costs more then the shirt that covers it!!!

I'm glad to hear you learned a few things after being "snoopy!"

That is very funny. Poor husbands can get so embarrassed. I don't blame them. Your guy sounds like a keeper, for sure.
FYI, once you have your correct size for VS bras, you can buy them from sellers on ebay for WAY cheaper. That is how I finally got some pretty bras. Believe me, I have gone through the old, ugly bra thing for YEARS. I am over it.

I am still roflmbo!!! Because I can SOOOO relate to the "going to take one of your bras in" scenario. It would be the same at my house - embarassing to say the least!

Go Bro. C.!!! Can't wait to share that with Richard!

I laughed so hard about this!!!

My hubby actually went above and beyond the call of duty this year (so much so that we had to have a sit-down convo about the amount of $ someone should spend on gifts), but I was so excited because one of the thinge he got me was an iPod cover (because I keep dropping my iPod, great, I know, haha) and an iTunes gift certificate. Woo hoo!!

Merry Christmas!

Oh, you are so bad! "blubber wrap"- get out of here, you gorgeous girl! Kudos to your hubby for his bravery in entering VS. I am impressed! Course, this gift is kinda for him too, isn't it??? What a sweet guy. LINDA_ try to behave- you only have one day left, ok?

I'm hard to surprise too. How sweet of your man though....it's the gift that is fun for both of you. :o)

Really love how you "let it all hang out for us" when you share. I can't be that brave on my blog given some of my readers, but I love that you can....and do!

OMG! I can "so" see C. going into a VS and showing them your bra! LOL!!! ROFL!!! I am sure they would have shown him where the gift cards are and told him you need to come in and get sized! LOL! Be sure to look for matching panties.....he deserves that for being that willing to surprise you! LOL!

Merry Christmas! Hope everyone liked their presents. :)

Just wanted to say I love Shawn McDonald, I'll have to download his rendition of "Oh Holy Night." Did you know he grew up in Eugene? I enjoy sampling your music and finding new songs I like.

do you know that you somehow got deleted from my reader? I thought you were on the world's longest bloggy break and then I finally come over here and find you've been blogging all along!

I'm sad to have fallen so far behind, but glad you're still blogging, my friend... will be back soon!
