Perfection?

Last night I laid in bed tossing my thoughts over and over, lining them up just right for the conversation I plan to have with an extended family member.

Thoughts like:
It feels like you take but never sincerely appreciate or thank me.
Why don't you ever initiate time to spend together?
Do you know how much my children love to be with you?
Why do you have to be so self-absorbed?
If you love this family, why don't you make efforts?

And I wonder if God could say to me:
You take my blessings but don't seem to sincerely appreciate who gave them to you.
Why don't you initiate spending time with me?
Do you know how much Jesus and the Holy Spirit crave to be with you and you forget them?
Why do you have to be so self-absorbed?
If you truly love me Linda, why don't you make any efforts to know me better?

It sure is nice to be soooo ho ho perfect.

So that when this poetic conversation I have so beautifully laid out to be said...

when I meet this person face to face again....

maybe they won't notice the bark chip still left in my own eye!

I hate when God turns my self-righteous anger back on me! You said it so well.

Not that God is self-righteously angry with me. I'm feeling a little tongue-twisted at the moment. As I said, you said it perfectly, so I'll stop trying to say it.

awwww, man! It's too early for my toes to be stepped on this morning! I have those SAME thoughts about a member(s) of my family. I needed to read this! I'm going to print it out and when those thoughts pop into my head I'm gonna pull this out and read it!

Isn't this true? So many of the things I get frustrated about are things I am guilty of too.

I can't believe how we have never met and yet you read my stinkin' mind.
I think about THIS all the time, and then, yep, there's my plank...
Thanks for holding me accountable and keeping it real. And why did it sound creepy that we have a song after I read it back to myself???? Was it creepy? Hey, have you gotten your frame yet?

Wow! This really speaks to me and the way I've felt about some of our extended family- guess I too really need to examine the log in my eye before I get upset about others little specks. I'm glad I dropped by to read this today.

I have these same thoughts- especially when I am lecturing my kids on poor choices, etc. Thanks for the reminder Linda!

God asks me those questions a lot when I get whiny and demanding of others. He constantly has to remind me that He is the only one who's perfect. Thank you for this humbling reminder.

This is so awesome. Remembering what bothers us in others is exactly faults of our own is priceless.
