Literally.
See over there on my sidebar. Under the description of me? How it says blogging's like therapy? Well sessions in.
It has been a cruddy morning. I know. It's my birthday, WHAT is my problem? So instead of crying anymore, I'm bloggin'. It always makes me feel better. Hang on, it's gonna be a wet ride!
What happened was a hectic morning, me crying and blurting out "I miss my mom" to my oldest child and then having an out of body moment that I looked back at myself all blubbery and gave myself that look.
The look that says...you better snap outta this spoiled girl or I'm gonna slap ya.
Everyone left and I crawled back into my pity party. I'll stop right here and tell you to NOT feel sorry for me. I've had my ugly cry. I'm making myself a red velvet cake at the moment (did ya hear that Mary?...come have a piece with me!)
oh and does anyone know how long after a carton of buttermilk expires that it is okay to still use it? I'm on a mission and determined to bake this cake whether or not!
I'm not sure what's up with this girl. I don't have the "getting older" blues or hormone issues at the moment. Maybe its a bunch of things combined together in a mixture for disaster. There are several factors lately for this ol' girl that sometimes just gets to me these days and then I cry at the most inopportune times like a birthday. Frustrating. Why can't it pick a different day? Like a day when I have a big pimple on my nose and I'm retaining water?!
I'm anxious for my boys to get off the bus so I can hug them tight and remind them that mommy's okay and really just a blubber bottom who is really very happy deep down in my heart and not sure where all this dumb drama came from this morning. I hate it that they went to school and knew I was not the happy birthday girl. It kills me.
And my husband. My man who is so good to me and really does make my birthday special. He can't win with me sometimes and I feel sorry for him. This is not about any of those poor fellas. It's me, just having a bad day. Not very convenient and truthfully awfully selfish. So, back to my red velvet cake. It's my idea to bake it. And I'm letting my boys decorate it and as for everything else for the rest of the day...I'm keeping out of it. I hate it when I ruin things.
Alright, enough therapy...this is getting expensive!
Thanks for listening.

I'm sorry you had a morning! Everyone has them at times, even on their birthday. Your boys will be fine, especially if they get to decorate a cake! Here's hoping for a fun night. I'll be praying for that!
So sad I missed your giveaway! Yes, I agree that blogging is therapy and a hobby! Have a great week!
Sorry you're not feeling 100% fantastic today. I hear you though. I get so emotional around my birthday and there is usually never a reason other than "I miss my mom!"
Blubbering wit'cha. :-)
Bonnie
Aw, I'm so sorry you had a crappy, no good start to your day. Hoping the red-velvet cake really helps, you deserve to feel good on your special day!
Hug your babies, and your hubby, heck, in a house full of men, no wonder you were in tears! LOL j.k.
Hope your night is going better by now, and heck, cry if you want to, it's good for the soul!
Big hugs to you.
I am so sorry about your rough morning--I can totally relate! Hey, your a woman, you are allowed to have bad moods and senseless crying sessions for no reason--it's what keeps us complicated! Hope your evening goes better and you have a great birthday night!
Oh, and I hope the blogging helped--I agree, it is like therapy!
Linda,
Does it help at all to say I totally understand?
As moms we are used to nurturing our children on their special days, the only day we look to really be nurtured is our birthdays...by our own moms. It is almost like we know that the day is going to be sad, and so we sabotage it even further.
I sure hope your red velvet cake and your precious family is the salve on the wound of your heart today.
Remember Linda, you are going to be with your mom for more birthdays than you can count. And when you finally meet her in Heaven, she is going to want to hear good things about these days without her.
Oh, girl, it can only get better from here! Hope you feel loved and treasured today. Celebrating with you the day God blessed the world with YOU! Have a BIG piece of cake. ;o)
Happy Birthday! I'm so sorry you were feeling a bit yucky this AM. For some reason my b-day is an emotional time too, and I still have my Mom. I hope the red velvet cake helped and was delish. Love those boys of yours, they are beautiful!
That Joanne is SO smart. YEah, what she said and I'll add a BIG longggggggg hug!
I sure luv you!
Ya know what...its ok to fall apart sometimes. You may think you don't have a reason, but missing your mom...that's a pretty good reason.
Hope that cake was delicious!
Some days are just like that. I'm glad it turned around for you and that your CD arrived on the perfect day after all! Happy Birthday!!!
You are allowed to miss your mom, especially on your bd- she was the one that brought you into the world in the first place. I hope that cake, icing, and being with your big and little men later helped. Happy Birthday- thanks for your honesty- one of the things I like so much about you.
Oh, I am so sorry that your day didn't start off the best. I hope it got better as the day went on. Bet the cake was delicious!
I think I'm getting in under the wire since you are a time zone behind me. Happy Birthday, girlie! Hope that crappy part of your day is long gone. Red Velvet cake pretty much cures everything, right?
BTW, there's some ratio of vinegar and regular milk that you can use as a substitute for buttermilk. I knooooooow, right??? I'm a human google.
haha
Baby girl, I know EXACTLY how you feel today, had the same party for myself yesterday! (except for the red velvet cake, I will be up Wednesday for my piece)It will never be the same without Mom's red velvet cake, her horrible singing and the marvelous breakfast in bed! No one even mentioned that it was my birthday yesterday! (until I threw a fit, of course)I saw that you had called my cell BUT didn't listen to your sweet message until today because I wanted to keep wallowing in my self pity!!!!ALL DONE NOW, TODAY IS A BEAUTIFUL DAY FOR THIS 41 YEAR OLD SISTER OF YOURS!!!!LOVE YOU BIG, HAPPY HAPPY DAY SIS!
(I am late commenting and I know you're all better now, but...)
I have days like this, too, when I don't know what's up, or why I am so emotional and can't get it together. So I think we're all pretty "normal". :) I know being surounded by your awesome family helped cheer you up - how sweet of your hubs to write you a TWO PAGE letter...wow!
