Ahh Friday, I think I love you!

I've been excited for this day to come! Number one...it's time to make up for that date with my husband we missed last weekend. A cool perk of having school age kids is no need to pay a babysitter when we can go out while they're in school! Awesome.

Number two would be a day that I've been needing for about a year now. A real haircut! I wish I could revert you back to my old post on my hair cutting issues and my nightmare trip to the Walmart "beauty" parlor to fix them. Oh my. It's probably best none of us go back to that moment. Not pretty.

So today I am splurging and finally taking care of myself. I have NO ambitions to do anything fancy or new to my hair. And it will be humbling to sit in the chair with this new girl I'm going to and admit the past. After all, she'll see it and know exactly what I've been up to!!

I used to be pretty good at taking care of mommy. It has been a tough year though and seems like that priority was on the back burner. Shame on me! So, if you've been like me and neglected yourself. Do something about it!! I'm not talking about being selfish. I'm talking about pampering yourself because you need it! And so does your whole family.

My heart is a little heavy as I end this week. I don't know about you but it seems like so many, so many, many people around me are hurtin'. God seems to be showing His wonderful hand in amazing ways. It is hard seeing anyone suffer though.

I read a devotion the other day about Job. Ahh, Job. No one ever wants to be in his shoes, that's for sure. God could have taken all his suffering away in a heartbeat. But He didn't. And it did not mean He didn't love Job. He actually blessed Job with an incredible insight into who He is. It was a process and Job came out the other end better than he began. Job trusted God despite the darkness around him.

What a challenge to me today. To trust God no matter what things look like around me or the people I love and care for. So, if that includes you today....trust Him. Sometimes it's all we really can do. And He ALWAYS shows His faithfulness to us in the midst of our hurting and all the way thru to the end.

With love,

Wow, Linda, that sure hits home today. I am trusting that things will be okay, that my family needs Dad home more than working long hours through the night. But, we have to trust, really trust, and we will find that glimmer of hope. This will not be the first time I could be compared to Job, but it is likely the first time where I am uplifted instead of down trodden...

You are right, it is important to take time for yourself. How that looks to each of us is different. For my mom, it is sewing. For my sister, it is doing her hair and nails. For me, well, I guess I don't know what it looks like. Maybe it is going to the book store, grabbing a coffee, and sitting to read without interruption. That is it! My time will be here in three weeks; do you think that is too long?

Gosh, this comment might be. :)

"an incredible insight into who He is. It was a process and Job came out the other end better than he began." Wow, if we could all say that this is accomplished in us as we go through the tough stuff.

Linda, I am totally hooked on reading your blog every day...... and I LOVE the picture at the bottom!!!! Love you!

Date Day Friday - that sounds marvelous!

As for the visit to the salon - I still stand by my recommendation that you avoid the mohawk died in rainbow colors. Of course, if anyone could pull that off, it would be you!

Yay for dates...I know we are long overdue, too.

Are you gonna post a pic of your new haircut? How fun and so well-deserved...enjoy it!

I needed to hear that reminder about trusting God. I know it never helps to worry about things...so then why do I still do it??? I know He is faithful, and I need to rest in that.

Thank you dear friend! I will meditate on Job's trials and his Restoration - His DOUBLE PORTION today, and I promise to stop looking like the - Whoa-she-really-let-herself-go-just-like-the-suave-shampoo-commercial-mom. Promise.

Thank You.

(((HUGS))) & Blessings, Whitney

Trust... that should be the theme these days.

I was just thinking how badly I need a haircut (my ends look TERRIBLE).

Have a great date night!

What did you do for a date, and where is the pic of your hair?

Funny thing the internet. Here I am at the catty-corner opposite end of this great country from you, but I find that we have a lot in common. I am really enjoying your blog posts!

Job. A good reminder that things can always be worse. And even if they are, our Lord has a purpose in it and we are never alone it either.

I hope your date and "you" time is refreshing and renewing.

Somewhere in Lubbock, Kristi C. just shuddered for no apparent reason!!! haha

I hope you enjoyed your time in the chair and that your new gal massaged your scalp lovingly and that the products she used smelled yummy.

Sweet post!
