You can run (a red light) but you can't hide!!

That's the case here where I live.

Now let me preface here a bit. I have been driving for 24 years. And in that 24 years I can count on one hand how many times I have been pulled over. I have received 1...
UNO..
ONE ...
speeding ticket. I was in college and that late night driving back to campus with my sister will forever be imbeded in my memory.

I'm a good driver. Just ask me. And I'm a mom who tries always to be aware of the safety of my babies and those around me. So when I see the letter in the mail address to my husband I got my fur up. What did he do?!!!

Where we live they have these cameras mounted at intersections. I've seen them flash before and thought "oh that poor sucker...he's gonna get it". Well now that sucker is in this house.

Only problem is...there is a time/date stamped on the ticket and umm, well, oh boy....my husband wasn't driving the SUV at that time in the morning.

*SIGH*

I entered my code online and there it was, the big, dumb video of me running a red light. All I could do is laugh. Seriously... I'm not talking about the kind of "running a red light" where people barrel thru the intersection at the last minute. Nope, mine was an "innocent California stop" in the right turn lane.

But I don't live in California - HAHA.

Just kidding...I know I was caught....Red-handed...HAHAHA...I'm killing myself. Okay, *ahem*...

I remember that morning now. It was January 1st. I had forgotten a key for my pet sit job and had to take the loop back home. No cars in the intersection. I don't remember consciously running the BIG RED. But Big Brother over the back left of my shoulder saw it all.

Every little bit.

What a way to start off the year! And now I get to send a lovely check to "Big Brother" because I'm a criminal.

Maybe there's a way I can white-out the time/date and pawn this off on my husband?

See...criminal!

Oh girl you had me laughing. It's not funny that your naughty-ness caught up to you, it's funny, well no really it's not funny at all...it's well...creepy, I mean think about it, what if say they started mounting camera's in bathrooms or at restruants and watch EVERYthing you do? Did she was her hands? Did she leave a tip? Did she double dip in the queso dip?
Were you texting? Because I could SEE a ticket if you missed the light because you were texting.
*sigh*
I got into the habit of slowing down at yellows, course that habit comes with getting used to horns honking at ya too!
Too bad you didn't get jury duty for the case you could have with "that wasn't me officer!" Right? ;)

LOL!!! Oh, I hate those things!! It's not like you can even talk your way out of a ticket, either!! (Which I was able to do...ONCE.)

Aaaw! So sorry! We have those around here, too! I must admit, I am much more careful around them. Worse than that though is the "robo-cop" we have here. It is an SUV that has cameras mounted on it. They just move it around and park it at different locations to catch speeders. It makes my husband so mad! Haven't got caught...yet!

While I am here, I have been remiss in commenting lately...just dashing in and out but can I say that you just about gave me a heart attack on your post a week or so ago...I thought you were leaving the bloggy world and I was so upset. Have you heard about the school job yet? I have my fingers crossed for you!

Hoping 2011 goes a little better for you from here on out!

Blessings!

They have those in AZ too where my family lives. I always have to remind myself of it when I go visit. I'm with Penny....no talking, just paying...ugh!

Aaagh! Thank goodness they don't have those here, but I suppose it's just a matter of time. It's funny because it took you so by surprise, but so frustrating too!

What can you say - they caught you. Sorry. This is money that is hard to part with I'm sure. (I've never had a ticket yet.)

yep Connie...that was my first thought! *How many dog walks I'm going to have to do now just to pay for a split second mistake.* Ugg. Lesson learned!

We don't have the cameras in the small town...thank goodness! We do have to remind ourselves when we're in the big "city" to be careful because of them, though!
