Vacation!
Not the *movie* but at this moment maybe it is just as comical. I'm so grateful for the art & music programs at the boys' schools. And was delighted to see them bring home their instruments for Christmas break. My only wish is that AJ's music teacher would have taught him more than just "Hot Cross Buns". For it's the only song he seems to know and plays it with full joy. This little boy gets a glimmer in his eye this time every year. The whistling starts and sometimes it's Caroling of the Bells. Sometimes it's Jingle Bells. But most of all...it's consistent. Lots and lots of whistling!!
D-Man took part in "rock orchestra" at school this year. It's an after school event and at the moment he's playing "Rockin' on Top of the World" (Polar Express) on his viola!
So, Day One of Christmas break has brought many happy noises

I would love it if my kids wanted to play instruments too! Instead I get bombarded with hockey scores! "Mom! Did you know the Blackhawks beat the Rangers 4-2?"
Or the "Can I have some gum?" tune!
Hey you, I was thinking about you today (I was cleaning my tub, so I don't really know why you popped into my brain at that moment). Anyways, I thought to myself that I would like to catch up with you and hear how things are. Glad you are enjoying the break.
Enjoy your time with your kids - 2 weeks will go in a hurry.
