Faith of a boy

We are in the middle of Day Camp at our church, so sitting down and writing in my blog is a no-no at the moment...if I look around my house and the apparent tornado that has come through! But I have a little story I'd love to share.

I have a group of 7 little boys I hang out with each day and gratefully my AJ is one of them. I'm used to the body noises, nose pickin' and jokes like "Guess what...chicken butt". But the moment I witnessed yesterday was just plain priceless.

At the end of our adventures out and around Houston, we settle back at church for some games, giveaways and down time before parents arrive. During the door prize event I happen to glance over and notice my little man sitting in his chair with his hands folded in his lap, his eyes squeezed shut, silently mouthing what I realized was a prayer. I sat next to him and gently rubbed his shoulder telling him how nice it was that he was praying that his name would be called. And like a good mom, I then tried to set him up for the fact it might not be and to not get upset.

Here I was doubtful and trying to save my son (once again) from any sort of disappointment or tears. It's our job as mom's to do that, right? hehehe.

I returned to my seat and as I was plopping my big ol' rump down I heard the name of the next winner announced...I'll give you one guess who's name it was!

I could.not.believe.it!

His face lit up like a wild fire and I sat there with my jaw dropped.

Oh mommy of little faith.

How I love these little men in my life and learn from them every day.

At dinner we talked about the fabulous moment in his day. I mentioned his prayer and he immediately responded how knew God doesn't always give us what we want but he still prayed.

Once again, mommy's learning from her little boy on how to have faith.

REAListic and genuine faith!

Yes - the faith of a child! We sure can learn from them.

I truly believe the best way to learn about faith is to watch a child. they will believe, respond and act with total abandon!

Sweet story. You've got such a sweet boy! ☺

By the way, I learned the "Guess what, chicken butt" from YOU when I was in COLLEGE. :P

I love that kids seem to pray about anything...big or little. I tend to think only about the "big" stuff. But what I can learn from them is that anytime is the right time to pray!

Hope you have a great week at your Day Camp!

Definitely a story worth taking a few mins to share! It brought tears to my eyes, thanks for sharing this with us. We often need to be reminded about that "child-like" faith we should all have! Sweet boy you have there!

When God uses the kiddos around me to remind me...some how I seem to "get it" quicker. What a great story. I think what I loved most was how he realizes that God doesn't always answer like we would like but He does hear us.
I've been so busy with school that I've not had time to post or check in. So, glad life is good next door. Love ya!

What faith and wisdom to; to realize that God doesn't always answer like we would like but we still must make our requests known to Him. This is a reflection on what you are teaching him as his Mom. Good work.

What a sweet post. I love "catching" my kiddos talking to God. I love watching God work in their lives more. ;)
